Overview - Allow users to test drive the website and its iPad component without concerns of making costly mistakes.
My Role - Interview both product owner and international product owner to ferret out their concerns and the hottest pain points.
Challenge - Solution has to work and communicate not only on the website but to the iPad. In addition, the feature had to be configurable per client and have the ability to be turned off at a set time.
Approach - Discussed all the necessary feedback within all scenarios in order to build confidence and understanding from the users.
Discovery - The user base varied greatly. Not only was there a concern with familiarity with technology itself, it was also understanding of the results of administering the tests to the kids. The design has to account for the complexity of testing of clinical psychology to a broad age range of students and adults.
Vision - Constant contact with product owners. Present design with high fidelity to guarantee buy in. Visually, the user must have a consistent assurance they were in a practice mode test session and they were not affecting final live data.
Requirements - Emulate the existing system and its functionality and user experience.
Framework - The application and site framework were already in place and understood.
Design - High fidelity as I understood my stakeholders appreciated and understood it over simple, quick wireframe design.
Refinement - Wrestled with the color palette. Stakeholders were advocates of consistency, but the visual distinction was lost once all the colors of the muted existing color scheme was followed too closely. Testing confirmed this concern.
Impact - Successfully allows users to become comfortable using the system without penalizing them by charging them for usage.
