My Role - Lead requirements focus group with Visual Design, all stakeholders and representatives. Assist in user testing. Observe and adjust based on feedback. Review and gather requirements and research past design. UX design. Communicate. Prototype build. Annotate. Sell it.
Challenge - Complete an initiative that was started in 2012. Review old design and suggest improvements based on current implementation, customer feedback and business input. Design and prototype an efficient solution.
Approach - Four-in-the-box attack with representatives ranging from Product Owner, Development and Customer Feedback...as well as UX. Rapid iterative design to achieve buy-off and pass through final governance. Utilize a drag and drop UI to comfortably allow users the control they expect on the iPad.
Discovery - Review the initial 3rd-party design that had been approved, but never implemented, in 2012. Uncover what the business still liked and fell in with the current tech deck. Consider customer feedback of the current implementation in production.
Vision - Meet every day. Design every day. Engage all representatives. Stay on target. Stay on target.
Requirements - Color within the lines of prior design. Update. Integrate into current system. Move quickly. Be efficient. Build consensus. Support development.
Framework - Work the agile UX scrum board. Design in the quickest, most efficient tool of choice for original mock-up design. Gain mock-up approval. Roll into final design. Engage visual design for high fidelity design. Gather feedback to get that final approval. Prototype as needed. Annotate. Create interaction reference as needed.
Design - Crank it out in Photoshop. Introduce color to differentiate elements. Utilize native iPad interactivity to maximize usability and coding efficiency like a team of rock stars. Hand off for a final visual design pass before annotation.
Refinement - Tuned our UX pitch by recognizing the value of a high fidelity design to finalize governance buy-off. Engaging development team by providing interactive prototype references. Quickly fine tune annotation for development and governance.
Impact - Users gained the ability to adjust the test being administered to their students on-the-fly without toggling between the website and syncing the iPad itself.
Gain approval from the product owner before testing and increasing fidelity.
Emulate the iPad design to present the designed solution and gain further understanding of the interaction.
